The “Plant nutrient and harmful heavy metal concentrations in agricultural soils of EU27 and UK” poster presented first important results of LEX4BIO project at the 22nd World Congress of Soil Science in Glasgow, 2022. The event is an important forum gathering experts and stakeholders whose work and life relies on productive and healthy soils as an important ecosystem supporting the biodiversity but also humanity’s transition to circular economy.
The key points LEX4BIO Coordinator Kari Ylivainio touched upon were the project’s approach to collecting soil samples, methods applied for analyzing the soluble concentrations of both nutrients and heavy metal, results pertaining to the distribution of the latter across Europe and conclusions for the food and feed safety of bio-based fertilizers implementation to match variations in local soil conditions.
